In the summer of 2015, Sumaira was diagnosed with sero-negative neuromyelitis optica/CRION. Shortly after, she founded the nonprofit organization geared towards raising awareness with hopes the effort will eventually lead to increased funding towards research and development thereby finding a cure
The Sumaira Foundation for NMO is a 501©3 dedicated to generating global awareness of neuromyelitis optica spectrum disorder (NMOSD) while fundraising to support patients & their caregivers and find a cure.
